And I just don't want it at all
The inevitable fall in fall
the friend that buys me alcohol
and friends that don't have time to call
And roommates that don't understand
The Bromance of the contraband
the difficulty of a steady hand
or the sadness in a rock band
The failure of the smaller things
The odds sense of freedom it brings
To sort through all these feelings
With love songs only one can sing
What I do is consequential
But I can't see my own potential
So my days' inconsequential
White kid in a residential
I wanna live near Puget Sound
And sink into the background
Live with whatever piece I've found
and give up all the distractions around
The girls I liked when I was 16
even mentioning them seems mean
Girls with hair colored green
and coworkers in skinny jeans

You are an empty chair; An unsung song; The silence I didn't want
And I am a ball of nerves; a collection of self conscious words
And I have this awful habit of wanting things when you say " can't have it
And this time I want you,
Or more like I want the idea of you
If we could find a place to get a long I think we could
Its suspicious I agree how nervous you have made me both then and now
And all those other guys that you could find if you spend the time
All that time you have
Those hours and hours you now have
And I've seen your eyes glance around the room too many times.
"But I don't mind"

I'm all out of weed
Out of excuses out of better ways to distract me
And so, you called my bluff,
I never wanted this at all I just needed a distraction from all that depressing stuff
Take a little longer before you answer
Lets stay as dumb as we can as long as we can
A new Plan
It's toilet to tap
What could possibly go wrong were all experts here an all
But no technical skill
Just theorizes of progress and what will one day eventually be real
Take a little longer before you answer
Lets stay as dumb as we can for as long as we can
Cuz Lately its been a contest of who can say the largest words
I don't wanna be out but you can't count me in

Well I dont know
where californians will go
when their all out of summer and their all out of surf
Cuz I dont know if
I'll be here in one year
I got friends in the north who are calling me home
Smart guess but still off
I got room for just two tops
and a hair cut thats longer than last year
The market has buyers
but good luck expires
my apartment is smaller
but its close to the water
And if the ocean gets warmer
there will be less Land wasters
so those job creators will know their worth
but my god there is a hole in the sky
"and we're fighting a war spilling blood for oil"
so there is no one left to sing
the ballad of the underwater west coast
Cuz it wont get better
if it doesnt change
